TRAFFIC ALERT: Carolina Hurricanes Inbound Traffic Pattern Change
The inbound traffic pattern for Carolina Hurricanes hockey games this season may affect fans' approach to the RBC Center parking lots.
The three Inbound traffic lane pattern previously tested on the West side (Edwards Mill Road) at select games, will now be a permanent traffic plan.
The objective of having three lanes is to allow for faster loading of cars heading to the East side (Outer lane), without being stopped behind those who prefer to park on the West side (Inside and Middle lanes). Thus, traffic wishing to access the West side parking lots should enter the property from Edward’s Mill Road rather than using Blue Ridge Road.
At the conclusion of games, Premier Parking, "P" permit holders, will find all parking rows adjacent to Steve Stroud Way (VIP road) open for egress traffic.
Both these changes are being implemented in anticipation of the completion of roadwork in December of the Edward’s Mill Road extension to N.C. Highway 54. The opening of this road project is expected to increase commuter and business traffic around the RBC Center and will impact arena traffic using Edward’s Mill Road.
As a reminder, the I-40 widening project is underway and your travel time to and from the RBC Center may be affected. We suggest allowing additional travel time. More information on traffic projects and alerts visit HERE.
