Radio One of Raleigh presents Women's Empowerment 2015 on April 18
(RALEIGH, NC) – Radio One of Raleigh presents Women’s Empowerment 2015 on Saturday, April 18 at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh. Women’s Empowerment is a high energy, high profile event that targets African-American women of all ages and is attended by as many as 18,000 Radio One listeners.
Women’s Empowerment has empowered, educated and entertained women for the past 20 years. This extravagant and far-reaching event has become a tradition for women not just of the Triangle, but of North Carolina and surrounding states. For an entire day, attendees are dazzled with unforgettable performances by national recording artists, impressive vendor displays, informative seminars and celebrity autograph sessions.
Women’s Empowerment features a noteworthy motivational speech by an internationally recognized speaker. Past speakers have included actor, director and producer Tyler Perry, entertainment diva Patti LaBelle, R&B songstress Mary J. Blige, actress and director Debbie Allen, actress Phylicia Rashad, motivational speaker Iyanla Vanzant, award winning actors and producers Angela Bassett and Vivica A. Fox, television personality Star Jones-Reynolds, Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts, champion of health & fitness Laila Ali, supermodel Tyra Banks and entertainer Steve Harvey.
This year’s keynote speaker will once again be charismatic leader, visionary, provocative thinker and entrepreneur, Bishop T.D. Jakes. Bishop Jakes inspired a sold-out crowd at Women’s Empowerment 2013 and Radio One is delighted to welcome him back as this year’s keynote speaker. Bishop Jakes serves as senior pastor of the The Potter’s House, a global humanitarian organization and 30,000 member church located in Dallas. Named “America’s Best Preacher” by Time Magazine and CNN, Jakes’ voice reverberates from the world’s most prominent stages.
Beyond the pulpit, Jakes is the recipient of numerous humanitarian awards. His worldwide impact is also felt through high profile conference series such as MegaFest, which recently drew more than 75,000 participants; and he is the founder of the T.D. Jakes School of Leadership. His communications empire also spans film, television, radio, best-selling books, including the latest # 1 New York Times Bestseller, “Instinct.”
Created in March 1994, in honor of Women’s History Month, Women’s Empowerment was designed to enhance the lives of African-American women by addressing issues that specifically impact their health, relationship and overall lifestyle.
