Lenovo Center Introduces New Payment and Pass Validation System for Event Parking

(RALEIGH, NC) – Don Waddell, President of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes and Gale Force Sports & Entertainment, today announced that Lenovo Center will begin using “Prime” by ParkHub, a mobile technology solution for parking payment and pass validation. The new system will be in place beginning this Saturday, Sept. 2, prior to the Ed Sheeran concert.

“We are excited that the Centennial Authority selected ParkHub to enhance Lenovo Center’s parking operations,” said Waddell. “Their established technology will offer Arena guests more payment options for parking, while providing valuable analytics to our management team.”

In addition to accepting cash for payment, the mobile point-of-sale system will provide parking attendants the ability to accept credit or debit cards and NFC devices (Apple/Android Pay) during all events at Lenovo Center, including Carolina Hurricanes games and day-of-game pay lot parking for NC State men’s basketball games. The secure transaction will be executed using a handheld device. A receipt is then printed and placed on dashboards.

The system will also provide instant validation of prepaid parking for concerts, comedy events, family shows and Carolina Hurricanes games. The attendant will scan a unique QR code or barcode supported by the venue’s ticketing partner, Ticketmaster. General parking can be purchased online, or at the box office, during checkout after event tickets have been purchased for Carolina Hurricanes games and most entertainment events.

Due to the use of a different barcode system, season and prepaid parking passes for NC State men’s basketball games will not be scanned as part of the ParkHub system in 2017-2018.

Dedicated to assisting sports and live entertainment venues streamline the parking process, ParkHub’s technology is designed to handle large volumes of traffic at once. George Baker Sr., ParkHub’s Founder and CEO, believes that “parking is the first touch point at any event and sets the tone for the guest experience.”
