Lenovo Center Introduces Electric Vehicle Charging
(RALEIGH, NC) – Gale Force Sports & Entertainment, in association with the Centennial Authority, today announced that electric vehicle (EV) charging is now available at Lenovo Center. Six ChargePoint EV charging spots have been installed for guests to charge their vehicles while attending Carolina Hurricanes hockey games, NC State University men’s basketball games and all other events at Lenovo Center.
Lenovo Center will offer Level 2 electric vehicle charging solutions from ChargePoint, the world’s largest EV charging network. The networked Level 2 chargers provide up to 25 miles of Range Per Hour, and enable drivers to access information about availability and status right from their mobile device. ChargePoint also partners with Wolfspeed, A Cree company, based in North Carolina.
Cree, Inc., which is headquartered locally in Durham, N.C. and is a strategic partner of the Carolina Hurricanes, was instrumental in bringing the ChargePoint charging spots to Lenovo Center. As a global leader in silicon carbide (SiC) technology, Cree’s Wolfspeed product portfolio is enabling the world’s transition to electric vehicles, renewable energy and other energy-efficient technologies.
“We are excited that the Centennial Authority provided the ChargePoint chargers to support our EV drivers and the future of electric mobility,” said Lenovo Center and Hurricanes President Don Waddell. “These charging spots offer convenience and peace-of-mind for EV guests while attending events.”
The chargers are in the VIP parking lot at Lenovo Center. There is a $5 flat fee for each charging session. If space is available, guests may upgrade to VIP parking to access the chargers. EV charging will be operational from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. each day.
Chargers at Lenovo Center are available to the public and drivers are encouraged to download the ChargePoint mobile app to locate available stations, start charging sessions, and get updates on charging status. 24/7 support ensures that drivers can get assistance whenever they need it.
